BODY CORPORATE TRAINING
Training may be delivered by videoconference or in a face to face meeting depending on location.
Good governance in a body corporate environment is about managing for the benefit all owners and occupiers.
Frequently, the motivation for an owner to stand for election to a body corporate committee is to be able to contribute ideas and improve the community standards of their residential or commercial premises. For those volunteers without experience and even for those who are re-elected, successful governance can be achieved when the right tools are to hand. Body corporate laws are unique but opaque and the regulatory regime is mired in the mystery of compromise. Good governance skills and a supportive framework can provide a powerful pathway to navigate the complexities of community living. Training focuses on the governance concepts of principled performance so that committee members can approach problems with confidence and assurance.
Do you have new committee members?
Is your committee getting bogged down in lengthy debate?
Are descisions often deferred?
Do you struggle with ineffective by-laws?
Our approach is to deliver a short orientation training session that is affordable and practical for participants who may be time poor. This session, of around 2 hours, concentrates on the benefits of good governance, how to achieve good governance practices and how to apply such principles to emergent issues. The session also concentrates on tips and tricks to manage common problems and how to approach issues in a practical way. We look at how to harmonise the committee, create better by-laws in ten words, tips to make your budgets legal and other steps to smooth the way to trouble free compliance.
Training may be undertaken at a time and place convenient to the committee members who wish to be involved. There is a flat fee of $385 for a session for a single body corporate and training notes are provided for all participants. Any additional costs such as venue hire will be at the client's discretion.
Governance Mentors is Queensland based and the legislation governing bodies corporate is different in each state. For this reason Governance Mentors specialises in the Queensland jurisdiction and travels regularly so regional centres are not paying a premium for their decentralised location.
